GBS is seeking a Technical Writer III to develop and maintain technical documentation for systems, applications, and operational processes :
Job Functions
- Creates, updates, and maintains system documentation, including system designs, standard operating procedures (SOPs), user manuals, and training materials.
- Works closely with developers, analysts, and system administrators to ensure documentation accurately reflects system functionality.
- Organizes and manages documentation libraries and repositories to ensure accessibility and version control.
- Uses document management tools such as SharePoint to manage and publish documentation.
- Ensures documentation meets DOI, IBC, and HRMSD standards, including Section 508 accessibility requirements. Reviews and edits documentation for clarity, accuracy, and completeness.
- Provides templates, style guides, and document standards to ensure consistency across technical publications.
- Supports audits and reviews by ensuring documentation is up to date and complete.
Experience Requirements
Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.Strong understanding of technical writing principles and document design.Familiarity with government documentation requirements and standards.Experience with document management systems and version control.Skills and Abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and other publishing tools.Ability to work with subject matter experts and translate technical information into accessible content.Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork and stakeholder interaction.Education / Certification Requirements
Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or a related field.3-5 years of experience in technical writing, preferably within government contracts or a regulated industry.Experience with federal documentation guidelines, such as Plain Language and Section 508 compliance, is a plus.Must be a US Citizen or Permanent ResidentMust be able to obtain a position of public trust with the US GovernmentA background check will be required.
