As a key member of our team, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced leader to join our ranks as Deputy Division Leader. The successful candidate will provide crucial support to the HPC Division Leader in both strategic planning and day-to-day operations of our High-Performance Computing Division. The HPC Deputy Division Leader reports directly to the HPC Division Leader and serves as a member of the Associate Laboratory Directorate for Simulation, Computing, and Theory (ALDSCT) leadership team.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements
Demonstrated experience in supporting leadership functions within a scientific or technical organization or program, with proven ability to help execute vision, support teams, and tangible results
Deep expertise in high-performance computing, computational science, or a related field with comprehensive understanding of the HPC landscape, including emerging technologies, trends, and challenges
Established record of team building, employee development, and mentoring in support of organizational goals
Experience implementing and maintaining operational processes to enhance efficiency
Proven ability to foster collaborative professional and organizational relationships
Commitment to supporting an engaging and innovative work environment
Education / Experience :
Position requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and 12 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to management of HPC operations.
Desired Qualifications
Familiarity with DOE & NNSA computing programs, including the Advanced Simulation and Computing (ASC) program and its scientific computing and AI / ML needs
Experience managing large-scale HPC resources in a national laboratory, academic, or industrial setting
Knowledge of advanced computing architectures, AI / ML integration in HPC, and post-exascale computing challenges
Active Q clearance and ability to obtain a TS / SCI clearance.
Work Location :
The work location for this position is hybrid and is located in Los Alamos, NM. Hybrid is defined as working partially onsite / partially offsite but within 2 hours ground commute of this location. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.
Position commitment :
Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.
