Overview
JQOL is seeking a Structural Engineer Project Manager to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of structural engineering projects across a variety of markets, including commercial, institutional, and public infrastructure. This is a key leadership position for an experienced structural engineer with strong technical skills and a proven ability to manage projects, collaborate across disciplines, and build lasting client relationships.
The ideal candidate will combine engineering expertise with excellent communication and organizational skills to deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget, while mentoring team members and supporting the firm's continued growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage structural engineering projects from conceptual design through construction completion, ensuring quality, budget, and schedule objectives are met.
- Lead internal design teams and coordinate with architects, clients, contractors, and other consultants.
- Perform and oversee structural analysis and design for buildings and structures using steel, concrete, masonry, and wood materials.
- Prepare and review construction documents, technical specifications, and engineering reports.
- Conduct site visits, perform field inspections, and provide construction phase support, including responding to RFIs and reviewing shop drawings.
- Act as primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong working relationships and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support proposal development and participate in interviews and presentations for new business opportunities.
- Mentor and oversee junior staff and coordinate workload to ensure timely and accurate deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required; Master's degree preferred.Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Indiana and / or Kentucky; SE license preferred or the ability to obtain.Minimum 6–10 years of experience in structural engineering, with at least 2–4 years managing projects.Proficient in structural analysis and design software (e.g., RISA, RAM, ETABS, Revit).In-depth knowledge of IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, and TMS codes and standards.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.Effective verbal and written communication skills, including client-facing interactions and technical documentation.Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).Location
