Assistant Distribution Designer Manager

Description

GAI is seeking a Distribution Assistant Designer Manager for distribution-related work. This position will perform distribution design, technical guidance / mentoring / supervising of staff, design reviews, and implementation of all aspects relating to distribution design services. The successful candidate will manage a team of CAD Operators / Designers as well as work on various distribution design projects. The successful candidate will have the ability to work at the Collegeville, PA office 1-3 days a week. Job Duties :

• Manage, design, and perform QA / QC checks related to technical activities including, but not limited to, the following :
• Manage, train, and mentor CAD Operators / designers to develop high quality project deliverables.
• Responsible for the oversite of all CAD Design related discussions as well as coordination with other disciplines CAD leads.
• Perform QA / QC reviews on drawing packages including 2D drawing sets for adherence to client standards.
• Document QA / QC reviews, maintain record documents, and communicate information to the team.
• Develop and / or revise 2D drawings
• Perform and manage 2D model creation in accordance with client workflows & standards.
• Utilize and manage others in the usage of file management software in accordance with client workflows and standards.
• Develop design specifications including the overall bill of materials.
• Travel to other offices meet with clients and attend project specific meetings on an as needed basis.
• Manage tasks on assigned projects in accordance with GAI's high standards of project management.
• Manage and assist with the development of scope of services and cost estimates for substation projects.
• Ability to manage competing priorities using sound engineering and financial judgment to determine optimal solutions.
• Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and / or DDS.
• Must be flexible to handle shifting deadlines and scope changes.
• Must have resource management skills and ability to identify project barriers and mitigate them without schedule impacts.
