Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse to provide high-quality, compassionate care in a fast-paced acute care environment. The ER RN will perform comprehensive assessments, deliver evidence-based interventions, and collaborate closely with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to support optimal patient outcomes. This role involves caring for patients across all age groups and managing a wide range of emergencies.
Responsibilities
The ER RN will :
Perform initial and ongoing age-appropriate assessments.Identify priorities in patient care, develop and implement care plans, and execute appropriate nursing interventions.Complete discharge assessments, provide education, and ensure patient / family understanding.Communicate effectively with the healthcare team and document all care in accordance with policy.Maintain patient and staff safety through proper environment management and equipment readiness.Administer medications using the “five rights” and evaluate patient response.Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, quality improvement initiatives, and emergency / disaster preparedness efforts.Conduct follow-up calls, assist with patient charges, and promote professional behavior.Required Qualifications
Active RN license in Maine or compact stateBLS (required)ACLS (preferred)BSN preferredMinimum 1 year of Emergency Room or acute care nursing experienceStrong critical thinking, communication, and assessment skillsImmunization compliance : Varicella (2 doses or titer), HepB (3 doses, titer, or declination), MMR (2 doses or titer), Tdap, PPD 2-step or titer within past 12 months; flu vaccine required in seasonAbility to meet physical demands, including lifting up to 30 lbs, pushing wheelchairs / stretchers, standing, bending, and exposure to infectious agentsWork Environment
Fast-paced emergency departmentExposure to infectious diseases, bloodborne pathogens, chemicals, and cleaning agentsRequires full mobility and sensory acuityAdditional Details
