The Operations Section of King County's Solid Waste Division (SWD) is inviting applications for one (1) Career Service Electrician II. About this Role
As an Electrician II supporting a regional landfill and multiple transfer stations, you'll play a key role in keeping essential public services running safely and efficiently. From maintaining high-voltage systems and industrial flares to troubleshooting digital controls and security infrastructure, your work directly supports environmental protection, public health, and community well-being. This role offers variety, autonomy, and the opportunity to take on meaningful challenges-like modernizing electrical systems and supporting upgrades that improve service, equity, and sustainability across the region. The Electrician II will supervise electricians and other skilled staff, ensuring high-quality, safe, and efficient work across our facilities. Key responsibilities include scheduling, coordinating, project planning, cost estimating, tracking labor and materials, coordinating with internal teams and contractors, and managing work orders.
About the Team
The Operations team plays a critical role in supporting the division's mission to deliver safe, reliable, and sustainable waste management services. This team maintains and improves the infrastructure that keeps our landfill and transfer stations running-ensuring compliance with environmental regulations while enhancing safety for workers and the surrounding community. As new facilities are constructed and older ones require upgrades, Operations collaborates across the division to meet evolving service needs. Electricians work closely with other skilled trades to ensure that systems remain functional, efficient, and responsive to both immediate and long-term demands-supporting the division's commitment to public health, environmental stewardship, and equitable service delivery.
