Job description

City Engineer Position

Performs difficult professional engineering work in supervising and participating in the design, construction, maintenance and operation of civil engineering projects; prepares and supervises the preparation of designs, plans, specifications, estimates and reports; and performs other duties as required. There are multiple vacancies in various departments in the City and County of Honolulu :

Three vacancies with the Honolulu Board of Water Supply, Capital Projects Division :

  • Two (2) vacancies in the Design Section
  • One (1) vacancy in the Construction Management Pipeline Section

Six vacancies with the Department of Design and Construction :

  • Five (5) vacancies in the Civil Division
  • One (1) vacancy in the Administration Division
  • Six vacancies with the Department of Environmental Services with telecommuting and alternate schedule opportunities available :

  • One (1) vacancy in the Collection System Maintenance Division
  • Three (3) vacancies in the Environmental Quality Division
  • One (1) vacancy in the Refuse Collection & Disposal Division
  • One (1) vacancy in the Wastewater Engineering & Construction Division
  • Three vacancies with the Department of Facility Maintenance : One (1) in the Road Maintenance Division, and two (2) in the Storm Water Quality Division. The Storm Water Quality Division vacancies are located in Kapolei.

    Education requirement : Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in an engineering specialty.     Experience requirement : One year of registered professional civil engineering experience. License requirement : Possession of a valid license as a professional civil engineer in the State of Hawaii.
