RESPONSIBILITIES :

Reporting to the Director of Transportation Engineering, a Transportation Project Engineer will assist in various tasks including plan preparation, quantity calculations, geometric design, pavement marking / signing, drainage design, traffic studies, traffic signal design, public involvement, report writing, specifications, cost estimates, roadway lighting, and other related tasks. Candidates with a background in preliminary engineering or development of detailed plans and specifications are recommended. The individual may also be called on to work closely with other teams on multi-disciplinary projects. Activities will vary and can include :

• Analyzes information and data to perform routine design tasks.
• Receives instructions from Project Manager or Senior Project Engineers as to the general results expected.
• Research design options and document findings.
• Responsible as a member of the design team for accuracy of engineering design and plans, quality presentation, thoroughness and follow-through, and efficient conformance to budgets, schedules, and company standards.
• Research code requirements.
• Prepare environmental impact and other administrative reports required for project permits.
• Keeps Project Manager informed of workload and any changes in project schedule, scope or additional services.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing current professional publications; establishing professional networks; and participating in professional societies.
• Assist or participate in the preparation of project proposals and other business development efforts.
• May be asked to participate in non-design engineering activities such as construction inspection and materials testing, surveying, CADD production, and field data collection.
