Description
Applies advanced scientific principles and expertise in the design and development of new products and technologies which solve customer and market pain points and create value for Ascensus and our customers. Leverages and mentors others on experimental design, scientific principles, laboratory techniques, analytical methods, and guidance from internal and external subject matter experts to deliver projects. Actively collaborates with marketing, sales, R&D colleagues, operations, engineering, and customers during development efforts. Seeks advances in recent relevant chemistry and scientific principles; leveraging knowledge to propose new opportunities for Ascensus.
Key Responsibilities
- Leads the development and delivery of new products and technologies from lab to production which meet all customer requirements.
- Coach and mentor colleagues on key scientific principles including experimental design
- Reviews lab records and advises on standard operating best practices and procedures. Writes clear and concise technology reports and updates.
- Engages colleagues on internal results for external communications and presentations to managers, as well as non-technical audiences such as customers.
- Proactively seeks opportunities to update stakeholders on projects and new technologies.
- Advocates for a safe, clean, uncluttered, work area at all times.
- Ensures all work is conducted in a safe and professional manner. Follows all safety principles and uses all required PPE in conducting work. Actively participates in the development of safety programs for the lab (Job Hazard Analysis, Audits, Waste Management.)
- Ensure all developed products meet analytical, application and functional performance as defined per customer requirements.
- Presents at approved meetings, seminars, and marketing opportunities.
- Applies available sources of scientific information (e.g. literature, internal reports, subject matter experts, patents, articles, A.I., etc.) in the implementation of new product development.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Demonstrated successes in moving a validated product concept from initial feasibility to pilot scale and commercial scales desired.Practitioner level of knowledge in several key analytical techniques used in the development of products desired.Advances experience and a working knowledge of developing products which use or have special hazards or chemical incompatibilities (e.g. air sensitive, moisture sensitive, pyrophoric, high energy, toxic, high potency, etc.) desiredAdvanced experience working in glove boxes and under isolation schlenk conditions desired.Advocates for innovation and improvement at multiple levels. Highly respected within the organizationPolished written and verbal communication skills, with an excellent ability to present findings and recommendations to diverse stakeholders.Multi-faceted communicator with strong proven skills to achieve objectives as a team player.Good facilitator and negotiator. Flexible and innovative approach to problem solving. Adept at translating ambiguity into action.Experienced in collaboration tools (e.g. Teams, Salesforce, SharePoint, Electronic note books,…) to drive engagement and deliver results.Awareness of state of the art development techniques, tools, and processes (e.g. stage gate, design for six sigma, design thinking, lean…)Educational Requirements
BS Degree with 20+ relevant experience desired or
MS Degree with 10+ years relevant experience desired or
PhD Degree with 5+ years relevant experience desired
