S&ME is seeking an Ultrasonic Testing Technician with phased array experience to join our non-destructive testing and evaluations (NDT/NDE) team in Greensboro, North Carolina . As an Ultrasonic Testing Technician , you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety and integrity of our construction projects by conducting ultrasonic and phased array ultrasonic testing of pipe welds. This role is ideal for seasoned professionals ready to take on new challenges and responsibilities in the field of non-destructive testing and evaluation.

Your Day-to-Day:

• Evaluations: Perform advanced non-destructive tests and evaluations on various construction materials and structures, utilizing state-of-the-art technology to detect defects and irregularities.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with our skilled engineering team to accurately interpret and report findings while ensuring adherence to industry standards and safety protocols.
• Coordinating and Managing: Coordinate and manage testing assignments, maintain testing equipment, and conduct fieldwork, which includes safely climbing steel structures such as buildings, cell phone towers, and water tanks up to heights exceeding 200 feet.
• Reporting: Create detailed reports to effectively communicate your findings, contributing to informed decision-making and project excellence.

The position will require 50+ hour work weeks (during periods of peak workload), as well as off-shift and weekend work, as required.

What You Bring:

• A High School Diploma/GED
• At least 2 years of NDT/NDE metals testing experience or an associate degree
• Experience in compression wave, shear wave, and Phased Array ultrasound, a plus
• Level II for UT certification
• ASNT Level II certification per ASNT-SNT-TC-1A in at least one method
• Safety, DDC, NDT, and Radiation Training
• Experience using fall protection equipment and personal fall arrest systems
• Additional certifications, a plus: ICC certification in Building Inspections and/or Structural Steel InspectionLevel II for PT, MT certifications

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as:

• Ability to climb heights over 200 feet
• Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions outside normal business hours
• Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
• Traveling out-of-town and overnight for assignments as necessary
