Host
The host presents a positive and welcoming first impression of Brooklyn Avenue Pizza Co's friendliness, excellent service and high standards.
The host also greets guests upon arrival, inform guests of their wait time, monitors a waiting list, enters guest names into the computer system, shows guests to their tables and bids guests farewell as they leave.
Responsibilities
- Bilingual English / Spanish a plus but not required
- Manage incoming Third Party Delivery or instruct assist guests with take out / to-go orders
- Greet incoming and departing Guests warmly with a genuine smile and eye contact; escort and seat guests to assigned dining area;
present menus; answer initial questions, announce waiter's name
Carry natural conversation with guests without sounding scripted or intrusive
Use visual cues to seat Guests in either the bar or dining area depending on their preference
Notify guests when a table is ready.
Report any problems or issues to restaurant manager.
Assist in setting up and cleaning up the restaurant during opening and closing shifts,
respectively.
Addresses and resolves customer concerns and complaints.
Monitor and manage the flow of Guests into the Dining and Bar areas
Answer incoming calls and take reservations for lunch or dinner
Plan and organize reservations on restaurant seating chart using RESY
Respond to guest inquiries and requests in a timely, friendly, and efficient manner.
Observant to guests' needs throughout dining experience to ensure they receive high quality
service (i.e. notice a drink refill is needed while seating another Guest and ensuring the drink
is refilled prior to getting back to the door).
Manage seating chart throughout shift and optimize seating and assign guests evenly across servers’ sections to ensure even workload for wait staff
Schedule reservations with large parties in collaboration with management team Reconcile cash drawer by proving cash transactions;
listing checks and credit card charges for to-go orders
Performs opening and closing duties for host stand, as needed.
Perform light housekeeping duties such as cleaning glasses and menus and ensuring restrooms are clean, stocked and orderly.
Requirements
Proven experience as a host in full service restaurant
Good understanding of restaurant health and safety regulations
High school diploma or GED
Strong attention to detail, multi-tasking and time management skills
Availability to work around peak hours, including nights, early mornings, weekends, and
holidays.
Willingness to work as part of a high-energy, efficient team in a fast-paced environment
Able to clearly communicate guests' needs to team members
Able to hear well in a loud environment in order to answer telephone and respond to guest
requests

A positive attitude and ability to work well under pressure with all restaurant staff.
Willing to follow instructions and ask questions for clarification if needed.
Able to handle money accurately and operate a point-of-sale system.
