Job Description
I just wrote the most Miami job ad in the history of recruitment.
And I'm not even sorry.
Twenty years placing EAs. New York, London, San Francisco. But Miami? First time. And this Principal made damn sure I understood the assignment.
"Don't give me corporate bullsh
Challenge accepted.
Here's the setup that made me cancel my afternoon :
A Principal who hit the 1% not by being ruthless, but by being ridiculously nice. Generous. Kind. The type who remembers your kid's birthday and actually means it when he asks how you're doing.
Built a Family Office to manage his "many, many business interests." (Translation : More money than God, but still answers his own phone sometimes.)
The Miami Reality :
NYC runs the show. Senior EA there holds the bat phone, coordinates the universe. But when he's home? When he's in Miami with the family that matters more to him than any deal?
That's where you come in.
Not as the backup. As the home team advantage.
"Divide and conquer" with NYC. You handle Miami. They handle Manhattan. Everyone wins.
The office? "Classic Miami vibe," they told me. Ocean views, Cuban coffee on tap, and a dress code that understands humidity is real.
But here's where it gets interesting :
Remember I said he's nice? Well, nice guys don't finish last when they're this smart. He's about to embark on what he calls his "biggest challenge to date."
I can't tell you what it is. NDA tighter than Art Basel guest list. But when it happens (not if, it’s when), every single person on his team levels up with him.
The Numbers :
$150k base + bonus + benefits + the kind of stories you'll tell at dinner parties for decades.
But let's be clear : This isn't a "chill in paradise" gig.
You'll manage calendars for someone who needs to be in two cities simultaneously. (Physics says impossible. You'll defy it.)
You'll solve logistical nightmares that would make FedEx cry.
You'll become so essential to his Miami life that when he says "family is everything," you'll know exactly what that means, because you'll be protecting it.
The Proof :
His team? 10+ years tenure. In this economy. In this industry.
People don't stay that long for the weather. They stay because working for someone who gets it, really gets it, and it’s rarer than beachfront property.
The Close :
I've written a thousand job ads. Posted in every major city. But this one? This is the first that made me consider relocating.
Not for the sunshine. Not for the lifestyle.
For the chance to work with someone who's proof that nice guys finish first, if they're smart enough to hire people who can keep up.
Miami EAs : Your city just got a real shot at the big leagues.
Important notes :
You’re going to have to have a track record that makes Olympic Athletes nervous, this is not a role where you can come in and ‘learn’ this is a role that you come in and ‘do’. He’s nice (we’ve said that already), but at this level, the whole team is on point.
They know what they’re doing, they’ve done it before, they’ve got the T-shirt and have the scars to prove it.
To be part of this team, you’re going to need to bring your own stories, your own talents, because as part of this team, you’re going to literally make magic happen.
