Position Summary :

The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring consistency, quality, and efficiency throughout the manufacturing process by developing and implementing robust control plans, utilizing problem-solving techniques, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to optimize production processes and enhance product quality.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Develop and implement robust control plans to ensure consistency and quality throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Utilize problem-solving techniques such as root cause analysis, and 5s methodology to systematically identify and dress issues in the manufacturing process.
  • Have oversight of Statistic Process Controls (SPC) and verification of Process Capabilities (CPK) through the utilization of available tools.
  • Identify non-conformities through various tools, including web-based reporting, visual expectations, and production feedback, and provide an analytics-based improvement plan.

  • Understand and interpret Engineering drawings, tolerances, and specifications. Verify parts are meeting drawings and make determinations using the available tools.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop comprehensive plans for continuous improvements, leveraging diverse expertise and perspectives.
  • Be responsive to addressing production or process issues and manage the change process from start to end.
  • Diagnose and address quality issues, equipment malfunctions, and process inefficiencies on the production line, providing actionable recommendations for improvements.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and technological advancements in engineering and production processes, actively seeking opportunities for skill enhancement and professional growth.
  • Proactively schedule and lead cross-functional meetings with relevant departments and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication, consensus building, and effective decision-making.
  • Proactively identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize processes and enhance product quality, even in the absence of apparent issues.
  • Assess budgetary constraints and project needs, actively monitoring and tracking expenses to ensure projects remain within budgetary targets.
  • Provide guidance and support to inspectors, conduct regular audits and inspections to maintain quality standards and compliance with specifications.

Qualifications & Requirements :

  • Degree in Engineering or related field preferred
  • Three to five years of experience in manufacturing engineering
  • Experience with CAD software and understanding 2D Drawings
  • Highly skilled in MS Office, including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Prior experience in automotive manufacturing preferred

Competencies :

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills required (Six Sigma is a plus)
  • Leadership experience is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Great attention to detail and organizational skills

Physical Requirements :

  • Sitting at a desk for prolonged periods of time.
  • Some prolonged standing and walking on a concrete floor.
  • Some bending and stooping.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to travel if needed.
