Sales, Use, And Occupancy Tax Function

Responsible for sales, use, and occupancy tax function; includes supervision and responsibility for compliance, research, and audits.

Major / Key Job Duties

• Oversees preparation and filing of approximately 1,200 sales / use / hotel tax returns per month; includes making required tax payments and reconciling all general ledger accounts.
• Supervises three tax specialists preparing sales / use / hotel returns.
• Conduct research and review research performed by tax staff in order to properly document exempt guest revenue; includes monitoring changes in statutes and tax rates.
• Manage sales, use, and occupancy tax exams.
• Work with VP Tax and Tax Director on meeting departmental goals.
• Work with outside consultants on special projects.
• Provides support to hotel sites.
• Attend to human resource matters; includes performance reviews and disciplinary matters.
