Description
GENERAL SUMMARY/OVERVIEW STATEMENT
This position supports Central Transport and Equipment Services by providing the necessary information to patient/specimen transport and delivery if patient related equipment. It requires dispatchers to input verbal data into a departmental specific database, to retrieve said data and dispatch it as assignments to escort/messenger staff. It demands a high level of attention to detail, for accuracy of information as well as speed in this fast-paced environment. This position also requires a pleasant, courteous and professional telephone manner at all times.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
1.Provides essential service by answering calls for transport and equipment delivery in a timely and professional manner
2.Provides assistance by asking appropriate questions and entering information into the computer system.
3.Dispatchers are responsible for prioritizing correctly and giving out assignment in an orderly fashion.
4.Receives sick and late calls. Maintains the sick and tardy log
5.Informs supervisor of all sick and late calls. Report any complaints or unusual occurrences involving completion of an assignment.
6.Helps provide training of new employees
7.Has good working knowledge of computer systems and is able to perform a variety of computer functions specific to the Central Transport system
8.Must meet other office objectives including timely call handling and customer courtesy.
Qualifications

1.Excellent telephone technique and courtesy
2.Previous customer contact experience either via telephone or in person
3.Highly developed data entry skills
4.Ability to read, speak and spell in English
5.High School diploma or equivalent.
Skills
1. Ability to operate multiline telephone system.
2. Ability to enter verbal data into computer system correctly and efficiently
