Role Overview

Join Emporia as a Manufacturing Engineer and help shape the future of electric vehicle charging and whole-home energy management-delivering cutting-edge, high-power solutions that meet stringent safety standards and address real-world customer needs.

As Manufacturing Engineer you will lead the production of our high-power electric vehicle charging technology and whole-home energy management solutions. You will be responsible for designing the manufacturing line and process flows with our CM, implementing industry best practices for electronics assembly, and ensuring throughput and quality numbers are achieved. In this role, you will collaborate with our Contract Manufacturer as well as with Emporia's Hardware, Firmware and Test teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the interaction with our Contract Manufacturing partner, coordinating the flow of information between internal and external teams.
  • Develop the schedule for bringing up the production line in collaboration with our manufacturing partner.
  • Outline the process flow for the manufacturing process from end to end, from board fabrication to mechanical assembly and test.
  • Be the point of contact when manufacturing issues arise and effectively communicate the issue to the appropriate internal team.
  • Lead Design for Manufacture (DFM) reviews and provides the design team with best practice and feedback from the contract manufacturer to design for high volume production.
  • Develop In Circuit Test, Functional Circuit Test, and End of Line System Test specifications in conjunction with the internal hardware and firmware teams, and our external partner.
  • The ability to coordinate RMA / Field problems to pinpoint and correct issues in manufacturing in a timely fashion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial or Process Engineering or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in manufacturing high volume electronic products. The ideal candidate will have experience involving high-power and safety-critical applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across internal teams, and external partners.
  • Strong understanding of high-power electronics and the ability to interpret electrical schematics.
  • Experience with production solder joint quality standards (eg. IPC-A-610), flow soldering, conformal coating, test fixture design, manufacturing engineering systems (MES), burn in tests
  • Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management tools eg. Arena
  • Demonstrated experience designing production lines for electronic assemblies.
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment for diagnosing and troubleshooting manufacturing line issues.
