Overview **Hybrid Schedule – In person with up to 2 days of remote work based on departmental needs to be in-person at the hospital or other activities** Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm depending on business needs with weekend on-call requirements on a rotational basis. Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Infection Preventionist II is responsible for assisting the Director of Infection Prevention & Control in all activities related to the prevention and control of nosocomial infections. Works collaboratively with other Infection Preventionists to perform surveillance activities, report communicable diseases to local and federal health authorities, and investigate exposures or outbreaks. Educates staff, patients, and families on infection prevention policies and best practices. Works collaboratively with clinicians to advise on all matters relating to Infection Prevention and Control. Provides support for Infection Prevention quality improvement and safety projects and initiatives and supports the hospital’s benchmarking efforts. Performs day-to-day Infection Prevention activities in accordance with hospital policy and procedures, accreditation standards and regulatory requirements. Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: General Infection Prevention Competency, HAI prevention, and IPC Surveillance/Reporting. Meeting Facilitation and Public Speaking/Presentation to Groups. Clinical background (e.g. RN), Infection prevention-related regulatory requirements, and Project Management/Change Management experience highly preferred. Lean and/or Six Sigma Methodology experience preffered. Experience working with physicians and other health care professionals preferred. Pediatric/Neonatal Hospital experience preferred. Certification in Infection Control (preferred), but the following are key attributes: 1. Knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control basics and inclination towards continuous improvement and professional development (esp. given the often changing guidelines governing infection prevention) 2. Ability to perform Infection Prevention surveillance using NHSN criteria along with performing reporting responsibilities 3. Strong sense of personal accountability for relationship building with stakeholders 4. Strong leadership, facilitation, and presentation skills 5. Flexibility and adaptability to dynamic situations Education/Licensure/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in health care or related field. Master’s Preferred. Certification in Infection Control through CBIC is required (Please note that you will be required to get certified within 2 years of employment if not currently certified) Pay Scale Information $89,440.00-$160,992.00 CHLA values the contribution each Team Member brings to our organization. Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
