The Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (CADA) is seeking a Treatment Counselor for our adolescent substance abuse program in Santa Maria.

We are looking for a counselor to join our dynamic team at the Daniel Bryant Youth and Family Treatment Center where we are dedicated to helping adolescents on the road to recovery and health.

We are seeking a counselor with a desire to improve and expand the programming that we offer for the youth of Santa Maria.

The ideal candidate will have an enthusiasm for working with this population and be interested in implementing a variety of innovative interventions with our clients.

As a part of the adolescent treatment team, you will gain valuable experience with youth and families and help in CADA’s mission to build a safer and healthier community.

Excellent training and Clinical Supervision is provided for AOD Certifications and MFT & Social Work Associates / Trainees.

This is a great position for someone desiring hands on experience in counseling or helping profession. CADA provides ongoing training in counseling & substance abuse issues and supports employees in obtaining certification as a counselor.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • College degree or certificate in helping profession (may be in progress) or equivalent experience
  • Experience with youth and / or families in a professional setting
  • Knowledge of counseling principles and techniques, and of substance abuse assessment
  • Knowledge of resources for treatment, recovery, and rehabilitation in North Santa Barbara County.
  • Ability to communicate professionally verbally and in writing
  • Experience in the field of alcohol / drug counseling or mental health therapy preferred
  • Bilingual (English / Spanish) and bicultural preferred
  • Familiarity with SB County Behavioral Wellness documentation preferred.

Job responsibilities include providing group and individual counseling to youth, completing assessments in collaboration with client / family, and providing case management services for assigned clients (including appropriate documentation of services).

Hours are generally 10 : 30am-7pm but can vary. Position is full time 30-40hrs / wk, but part time may be considered for the right candidate.

Compensation : $22-$25 / hr depending on experience and qualifications. Increases for bilingual, experience with youth and / or counseling.

Associate MFT / CSW / PCC $25-$30 / hr
