Prime Responsibilities and Major Factors in Evaluating Performance :
1.Develops and implements metallurgical processes, controls and improvements in support of product development and product maintenance activities, working with quality and engineering teams to ensure customer specifications are met, as well as generating technical reports.
2.Managerial responsibility for metallography laboratory(ies) personnel and its operations.
3.Provided technical support to metallography laboratory.
4.Responsible for providing support to Operations in the areas of : new parts qualification, periodic cutup evaluation, review of customer technical and quality specifications and creating manufacturing procedures, failure investigations and other technical activities undertaken by product metallurgy lab, interacting with die engineering and sales in cost reduction projects.
5.Recommends and implements improvements, modifications and additions that will solve problems and standardize processes.
6.Integrates customer and product requirements with product development activities to identify robust, cost effective solutions that satisfy customer needs.
7.Transition new products and process developments into manufacturing environment.
8.Identifies and investigates new manufacturing technologies, implements new or improved manufacturing methodologies and implements process changes.
9.Acts as single point of contact and technical expert for material science information in support of customer and production needs.
10.Interfaces as necessary with customers, suppliers, production employees, production supervisors, engineers, and management.
11.Technical spokesman on issues which include : casting, alloy, heat treatment, resonant inspection, NDT, customer part failure analysis, and negotiating technical material conflicts and specifications.
12.Monitor internal and external technology to determine both threats and opportunities for Hitchiner products and processes.
13.Keeps correct record keeping to validate actions Hitchiner has taken and for intellectual property to justify actions in the past.
Additional Responsibilities :
1.Perform other duties as assigned.
2.Ensure that all activities and operations are performed in compliance with the Company's Code of Conduct.
3.Assist with problem solving that involve a technical solution.
4.Coordinate as needed component testing with customers to define failure mode and effect.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications : 1.BS or MS in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Engineering combined with a minimum of 7 years proven technical experience in specialty alloys. 2.Demonstrated experience in both research and the practical application of metallurgy / materials science processes within a manufacturing environment to lead in the implementation of new process technologies and to effectively act as a liaison between R&D and production. 3.Comprehensive knowledge of metallurgical principles, standards, methods, practices and equipment required. 4.High proficiency in written and verbal communication. 5.High proficiency in data analysis, applied statistics, process control, and measurement R&R. 6.Must be able to think creatively and strategically to develop new concepts to improve process performance, yield, and product function. 7.Experienced with continuous improvement including kaizen, synchronous manufacturing, and Six Sigma tools. 8.Proficiency in mechanical testing and metallographic procedures and standards. 9.Excellent problem solving, decision-making & strong prioritization skills as well as PC proficiency. 10.Flexibility in dealing with production and development issues. 11.Ability to review and interpret complex specification and drawing requirements.
