The position entails providing security services for the marina under close supervision of the dockmaster. The incumbent exercises careful surveillance over the dock areas and the property in place. Work is reviewed through observation and oral reports.
Essential job functions and responsibilities include exercising careful watch over the dock areas and the property in place; patrolling the marina to deter misuse of the facilities and contacting law enforcement as necessary. The incumbent reports theft, vandalism, and other harmful acts to proper authority. They keep logs of timing for dockage fee purposes and perform light maintenance on the docks and the surrounding areas. The incumbent must effectively and positively represent the City in delivering and performing work with colleagues and clients, irrespective of gender, race, religion, age, disability, political affiliation or belief, or sexual orientation. They must establish and maintain effective and professional relationships with work colleagues, supervisors, and managers. Performs related work as required for this position description only.
The requirements for this position include a high school diploma or GED equivalent, plus one year of experience in the field. Preferred are two years of experience in the field. Additional education and experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted for the above requirements. Valid driver's license with proof of automobile insurance, background check, and driving abstract are also required.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include the ability to maintain a courteous relationship with marina patrons and the ability to establish and maintain effective and professional relationships with work colleagues, supervisors, managers, and the public.
