We’re seeking an experienced and visionary General Manager who can lead with both heart and precision — building strong teams, delivering exceptional guest experiences, and driving financial performance through operational innovation.
Role Summary
The General Manager is responsible for overseeing all property operations, including lodging, events, guest services, pool bar, housekeeping, and maintenance. This leader will translate ownership’s strategic vision into daily excellence by managing teams, deploying efficient systems, and ensuring every guest leaves as a loyal ambassador of the Melrose brand.
This role requires a hands-on approach, strong financial and administrative capability, and the ability to build culture and systems for long-term growth. The GM will act as the primary operator, culture carrier, and strategic executor for the property.
Core ResponsibilitiesGuest Experience & Operations
- Uphold Melrose River Club’s service ethos, ensuring every guest interaction reflects our values of focus, simplicity, and connection.
- Oversee daily guest services, housekeeping, pool bar, event, and maintenance operations to ensure seamless guest experiences.
- Respond promptly to escalated guest concerns, special requests, and service recovery opportunities.
- Conduct daily property walkthroughs to ensure quality, cleanliness, and safety across all touchpoints.
- Oversee event execution in collaboration with ownership and onsite teams, ensuring operational alignment and brand integrity.
- Actively manage service flow during peak occupancy periods or event days, stepping in to support operations as needed.
Team Leadership & Culture
Lead, inspire, and hold accountable a cross-functional hospitality team.Manage scheduling, hiring, onboarding, training, and performance review cycles.Model Melrose values and create a culture of ownership and hospitality excellence.Provide clear delegation of responsibilities to reduce reporting confusion and ensure strong communication flow between ownership, leadership, and staff.Implement coaching and PIP processes to support team growth and accountability.Conduct regular team meetings and monthly manager one-on-ones to maintain alignment and morale.Financial Management & Administration
Oversee payroll, controllable operating expenses, and vendor payments in alignment with approved budgets.Track P&L performance and report monthly to ownership, with clear insights on revenue, occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, labor costs, and guest satisfaction metrics.Collaborate with ownership to execute strategic business plans, capital improvements, and programming initiatives.Maintain compliance with TABC, health and safety, and local regulatory requirements.Execute cash handling, deposits, and ensure permit and certification compliance.Sales, Marketing & Revenue Strategy
Implement strategic pricing, ADR, and RevPAR initiatives across transient and group channels.Collaborate with ownership & marketing partners on storytelling, seasonal campaigns, social media, and on-property programming.Develop and manage distribution channel accuracy and performance.Oversee Events & Sales manager to ensure event and lodging revenue goals are met.Maintain partnerships with tourism partners, local vendors, and community organizations to strengthen visibility.Maintenance & Facilities Oversight
Ensure the property, including the pool and outdoor amenities, meets safety and operational standards.Maintain a maintenance calendar (daily, weekly, monthly, annual) and manage preventative maintenance protocols.Coordinate timely resolution of repairs and emergencies, with clear escalation to ownership when necessary.Qualifications
3+ years of hotel or luxury hospitality management experience.Proven operational leadership across multiple departments.Strong financial literacy and ability to manage budgets, P&L, and forecasting.Exceptional communication and team leadership skills.Experience with hospitality tech stack (PMS, POS, RMS, CRM).Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.TABC and Food Handler certification required (or must be obtained upon hire).A proactive, detail-oriented leader who thrives in dynamic environments.Key Performance Metrics
