DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Cook 1, you will prepare food, follow recipes, and ensure safe, sanitary operations in the dietary department. You will operate kitchen equipment, check food items for quality, and cook meats, vegetables, casseroles, soups, and sauces. You will also, prepare special meals for meetings, banquets, and parties; bake desserts including cakes, pies, and cupcakes; and sanitize cooking utensils, equipment, and work surfaces used in food preparation. This role requires the ability to assign, coordinate, review routine food production tasks to determine the most efficient methods of preparation. In addition, you will complete inventory sheets, requisition cooking ingredients and supplies, and develop and test new recipes.
