Position Overview : As a Counselor, you will play a crucial role in the recovery journey of our patients. Pinnacle's approach combines compassionate care with innovative treatment methods to address diverse needs for substance use disorders.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide orientation to new patients to the programs' rules, policies, procedures, and patients' rights.
• Conduct intakes, discharge planning, initial assessments, and initial treatment plans professionally and within time guidelines as required by applicable federal and state regulation, CARF guidelines, and Pinnacle policies.
• Involve patients in assessment, treatment planning, and intervention to empower their recovery.
• Administer the biopsychosocial assessment at intake and on an ongoing basis.
• Develop and implement individualized Treatment Plans using SNAP (Strengths, Needs, Ability, and Preferences) to meet short- and long-term goals.
• Determine clinical necessity of counseling services based on assessments.
• Monitor and document changes affecting recovery; identify relapse indicators and implement relapse prevention interventions early.
• Comply with Medical QA and Clinical Risk Management policies, including (as applicable) :
• Evaluate high-risk conditions and administer screening tools (BAM-R, C-SSRS, GAD-7, PHQ-9).
• Assess risk factors and determine appropriate treatment settings; refer to specialists as needed with proper releases of information.
• Flag high-risk patients to Medical Directors, Physician Extenders, and Regional Clinical Leadership; coordinate referrals as needed.
• Document notes and communicate high-risk factors to the care team; circulate minutes from treatment team meetings.
• Provide professional counseling and referrals to secondary services as needed; address clinical and special needs through individual and group counseling; utilize techniques such as CBT and Motivational Interviewing.
• Schedule and track counseling sessions; document sessions in the EHR; participate in community relations and outreach.
• Attend required trainings and case conferences; collect research data when requested; observe urine collection when required.
• Attend team meetings and complete all training courses in a timely manner.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience — Prior SUD counseling experience preferred.

Education — Required : technical / other training in Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services or related field; Associate degree in Psychology or related field. Preferred : Bachelor's or Master's in Psychology or related field.

Licenses & Certifications — Preferred : SUDCC certifications, LPC, LCSW, LMFT, CADC, etc.
