Responsibilities

The George Washington University Hospital (GW Hospital) continues to be a leader in providing the highest level of quality and compassionate healthcare for the D.C. Region. U.S. News & World Report has just released the 3-4 ratings and rankings, in which GW Hospital is recognized as a Best Regional Hospital . GW ranks 5th in the region, which includes hospitals in D.C. and parts of Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.

GW Hospital achieved "High Performing" status in two specialty areas, Neurology and Neuroscience.

Qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • Provides shift to shift oversight for clinical practice, staffing, patient flow, safety, service, and utilization of resources for
    operations.
  • Maintains the environment of care.
  • Provides care to patients in a competent, capable, caring and efficient manner. Care provided is appropriate to the age of
    patients served.
  • Role models organizational values.
  • Provides real-time feedback to staff to improve performance.
  • Leads/Participates in department process improvement to improve projects outcomes.
  • Facilitates employee engagement activities including professional/shared governance participation.

Education/Qualifications:

  • BSN required.
  • Professional experience that demonstrates ability to understand the clinical practice environment. 2 years clinical nursing
    experience preferred.
  • Certification in specialty preferred.
  • Successful completion of unit specific certifications (PALS, ACLS, TNCC, NRP, chemotherapy certification.
  • Member of professional practice organization pertinent to area of practice preferred.

Skills:

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities.
  • Ability to conceptualize the patient flow process and its impact at the unit and hospital levels.
  • Ability to implement and sustain process changes to improve department and organizational outcome.
