Overview:
Veterans Evaluation Services (VES), a Maximus company and government contractor, is seeking experienced General Medicine Providers to perform Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments across various locations in North Carolina. This PRN role is ideal for practitioners with a background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or similar fields, seeking flexible work options and meaningful contribution. Your expertise will directly impact Veterans’ lives through non-treatment, interview-based assessments with some physical examination components. Whether you're looking to work part-time or supplement your income, this role offers quick onboarding and a supportive environment.
Required Skills:
- Medical degree (MD or DO) and active medical license in North Carolina
- Strong clinical knowledge in general medicine or related specialties
- Proven experience conducting physical assessments such as range of motion and muscle strength testing
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interview-based exams
- Ability to accurately document findings and complete reports in a timely manner
- Reliable access to your own office space within the specified radius of assignments
- Must be detail-oriented and adhere to all relevant protocols and guidelines
Nice to Have Skills:
- Previous experience with VA or military-related assessments
- Knowledge of compensation and pension exam procedures
- Certification in relevant medical fields or additional training in disability examinations
- Familiarity with electronic health records and reporting software
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree
- Minimum 2 years of clinical practice in general medicine or relevant specialties
- Prior experience conducting assessments for purpose of compensation or disability rating is a plus
Other Requirements:
- Must own and operate a suitable office within the designated radius for consistent availability
- Willingness to work on a PRN basis, performing scheduled exams across multiple locations
- Ability to complete exams in 4-8 hour slots, with rates structured accordingly
- No travel reimbursement outside your agreed rate; travel is included in compensation when applicable
- Ability to complete administrative follow-up work (addendums, reports) within designated timeframe, funded within your established rate
Earn a competitive pay rate of $800 for half-day (4-hour) shifts or less, and $1,600 for full-day (5+ hours) shifts, with a one-time bonus of $650 upon completing required training and first exams.
