PreSurgery Medical Assistant

The Pre-Surgery Medical Assistant performs patient care under the direction of the Pre-Surgery Supervisor as a part of the health care team. Assists the care provider, along with other members of the team, in providing medical care and attention to patients of the Pre-Surgery department. Responsible for following established organizational and departmental policies, procedures and guidelines. Assumes responsibility for high degree of accuracy and control of details to alleviate mistakes causing confusion, wrong surgical sites, delay within the OR, or delay of patient care. Provides exceptional customer service to the patient, patient's family as well as colleagues. Supports the philosophy and goals of OSS Health.

This role will complete 90 training at the Powder Mill Campus in York, PA. Following training travel to Hanover, West York, PM and Good Hope in Enola, PA will be required.

Qualifications and Education :

• High school diploma or its equivalent required.
• Graduate of an accredited business school or college with focus in medical assisting preferred.
• Current Medical Assistant certification or an ability to obtain within (6) months of employment.
• Current certification in basic life support (BLS) required, or the ability to obtain before working independently with patients.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred
• Proficient in computer use, including but not limited to Microsoft Outlook and Electronic Medical Record Experience.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills and attention to detail.
• Previous surgical scheduling experience preferred.
• Flexible, solid team player, able to work independently and possess good communication and organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
• Service oriented, approachable, and responsive to customer needs.
• Able to effectively and efficiently make use of time and resources.
• Independent judgment necessary to work in accordance with department practices and general directives received by Supervisors.
• Physically and emotionally capable of performing position responsibilities.
• Detail-oriented, able to work with minimal supervision.
