Are you a seasoned and certified Building Commissioner ready to make a transformative impact in one of Massachusetts’ most dynamic and innovative cities? The City of Somerville is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Inspectional Services to lead a multidisciplinary team dedicated to public safety, code compliance, and quality of life in one of Massachusetts’ most exciting urban centers. This is a unique leadership opportunity to manage complex operations across building, zoning, public health, plumbing / gas, electrical, and weights and measures — and to play a pivotal role in shaping Somerville’s built environment.
Reporting directly to the Mayor, the Director will oversee all inspectional services operations, manage departmental budgets, guide policy development, and engage with residents, developers, businesses, and elected officials to ensure compliance and advance Somerville’s strategic development goals.

Compensation
Compensation : Pay scale begins at $130,000. Hiring above this amount is dependent on qualifications and experience.
