Responsibilities Work in a hospital LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) unit with both antepartum and postpartum patient care Low-risk labor and delivery population; all high-risk patients are transferred out 200 births per year with 4 labor and 4 postpartum beds Rooming-in care model with RN responsible for both mothers and well newborns May care for low-acuity med-surg overflow patients (no telemetry, no infectious patients) Patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines : 1 : 2 for laboring, 1 : 1 for active labor, 1 : 3-4 for couplets, and 1 : 2-3 for med-surg Night shift position, 7 PM to 7 AM, 36 hours per week Weekend and holiday rotation required (every other weekend and holiday) No on-call required Cerner charting system is used; prior Cerner experience is a plus May be required to float to Med Surg or ED for task-only support (no full patient assignments) Review daily assignment may include mothers, well newborns, and occasional low-acuity med-surg overflow patients RN is expected to provide care for both mothers and babies throughout all LDRP phases Unit is staffed with at least two nurses overnight, support from midwife, charge nurse, respiratory therapist, hospitalist, and HUC (on select days) Orientation includes general hospital and unit orientation with one shift on unit Professional scrubs in any color are permitted; procedural scrubs provided for OR Hospital offers free parking for staff Travelers cannot work in pairs in the same position Only candidates residing 100 miles South / SW of Bangor, ME are considered eligible Requirements Active and unrestricted ME or compact RN license Minimum of 2 years recent L&D RN experience, or 3 years L&D experience for first-time travelers Current certifications : BLS, ACLS, NRP, Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring, and STABLE (STABLE must be completed within 30 days of start) Experience with all phases of labor and postpartum care, as well as care of well newborns required Proficiency with OB emergencies and routine interventions including shoulder dystocia, epidural and nitrous management, and basic neonatal care Cannot have previous permanent employment at any Northern Light Health hospital Flu vaccination required for clearance to start with start dates after 9 / 30 / 2024 unless a medical exemption is approved Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-628783.
