- EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of CDA or CDA Equivalent
- Florida VPK Certificate / Training Credentials Required
- Minimum one-year classroom experience
- Completed 45 hours of child care training requirements
- 30 clock hours of continuing education annually relative to child development and education
- PRINCIPLE DUTIES
- Develop and report upon individual lesson plans, as applicable, in collaboration with other members of the interdisciplinary team to accomplish educational goals as determined by the teacher, therapists and parents
- Implement the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) utilizing developmentally appropriate intervention and educational strategies based on current research, data and educational models (TeachSmart)
- Prepare weekly lesson plans that provide educational activities designed to support the developmental goals of children in classroom
- Monitor ongoing assessment the educational outcomes and revise individual lesson plans according to child’s performance and progress and feedback from parents and therapists
- Consult with parents in child assessment and intervention planning and evaluation on an ongoing basis; complete parent-teacher conferences at a minimum twice a year
- Maintain paperwork pertinent to children’s educational program and ECE Plan of Care
- Daily parent communication
- Participate and prepare for IEP or IFSP at least annually as applicable
- Maintain Medication Administration Log and prepare Incident / Accident Reports and Illness Reports as necessary
- Implement classroom procedures that meet or exceed required service elements of :
- Department of Children and Families Child Care Licensing Requirements
- State and local statutes for Child Care
- National Accreditation standards of NAC
- Sarasota County School Board Contract for Exceptional Student Education Pre-K Programs as applicable
- Gulf Central Early Steps Program services
- Provide ongoing supervision, training and guidance of Teaching Assistants and Volunteers in classroom (ex. daily plans, activities and expectations)
- Maintain a clean, safe, healthy and developmentally-appropriate learning environment in classroom and other play areas for children
- Maintain positive staff-child interactions and provide optimal supervision to protect children’s health and safety while encouraging children to explore independently and develop self-sufficiency skills
- Maintain positive staff interactions
- Participate in a minimum of 30 hours of professional development each year with onsite training and community workshops, seminars and conferences
- Demonstrate understanding that responsibility and dependability are essential qualities for this position; regular attendance and punctuality are required

The overall nature of the position is physically active requiring long periods of standing, walking, kneeling, sitting on the floor and the ability to lift 30 pounds.
