Position Purpose

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the BAC general accounting function through active involvement in cash application, sales tax filings, month end-closing assignments, account reconciliations, monthly internal reporting, and coordination of monthly allocations with BAC's parent company, Amsted. This position ensures the success of the general accounting team and is required to have strong organization skills, good research skills of using online database tools, data entry skills, and be able to communicate effectively.

Principal Responsibilities

• Responsible for accurately and efficiently applying customer payments to their respective accounts daily.
• Assist with Annual Tax Reporting to Amsted for all legal entities.
• Monthly filing of all sales tax returns for over 50 states and all municipalities (including Canada).
• Respond, coordinate, and ensure completion of all sales tax audit inquiries and requests.
• Prepare and file annual property tax returns (Maryland and California).
• Record and reconcile monthly cost allocations from Amsted, and work with them to obtain supporting documentation of ad hoc charges.
• Perform various month-end closing duties : including making manual journal entries, accruals, amortization and distribution of various reports.
• Perform monthly, quarterly, annual GL account reconciliations.
• Lead coordinator of BAC insurance with Amsted, including utilization of their insurance software for annual policy renewals. Coordinate with foreign BAC entities to obtain necessary documentation related to foreign insurance renewals.
• Assist in compiling and reviewing consolidated year end reporting for Amsted.
• Assist with internal SOX testing in the areas of Fixed Assets, Management Reporting, Revenue, Procurement & Operations
• Assist in ad hoc process improvements and special projects as needed

Performance Indicators

The Staff Accountant reports directly to the Accounting Manager. This role interacts with the general accounting group, Amsted risk management team, credit & customer service, BAC foreign entity finance teams, as well as BAC Americas plant personnel.

Knowledge & Skills

BAC Hiring Compensation Range $50,300-$86,300
