What You Can Expect

Zimmer Biomet is on a mission to build the boldest brand in MedTech, and we're seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking Senior Director of Direct-to-Patient Marketing to lead that charge with consumers. Specifically, we are seeking a proven growth and lifecycle marketing leader to design and scale our direct-to-patient marketing engine - driving patient acquisition, engagement, conversion, and long-term monetization Reporting to the SVP and Chief Communication Officer, this leader will develop and own the strategy and execution of integrated, multi-channel, patient-focused marketing campaigns and activations to drive measurable business impact. Success in this role means building a marketing engine that not only inspires patients but also drives sustainable revenue growth.

How You'll Create Impact

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in direct-to-consumer marketing with a demonstrated ability to move audiences down funnel transforming awareness into qualified leads, conversion, and lifetime value. They will pair a sophisticated understanding of the patient journey with an operational mindset, identifying the moments that matter to educate, motivate, and support patients while unlocking new monetization opportunities. This leader will architect and continuously improve the systems, processes, and workflows that power high-performing marketing from lead capture and segmentation to nurture campaigns, lifecycle management, and conversion-driving initiatives. They will apply patient insights, market data, and performance analytics to optimize campaigns for efficiency, scalability, and ROI. Equally skilled at strategy and execution, this role will cultivate strong relationships with agencies, tech partners, and advocacy groups to extend reach, while partnering across Zimmer Biomet's global business to ensure alignment and impact. At its core, this position is about building a best-in-class growth engine turning patient engagement into action, creating new revenue streams, and cementing Zimmer Biomet's leadership in patient-centered innovation.

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Design and lead the end-to-end direct-to-patient growth engine, developing integrated, multi-channel marketing strategies that move patients from awareness through engagement, conversion, and retention, with clear KPIs at every stage of the funnel.
  • Drive growth and revenue impact by translating patient awareness into action, setting clear performance goals for acquisition, conversion, and lifetime value, and reporting progress against defined business targets.
  • Design and scale lifecycle and nurture programs that empower and enable patients from disease awareness and education to treatment adherence and advocacy improving health outcomes while supporting revenue growth.
  • Architect and optimize workflows, systems, and marketing automation to move patients down funnel through audience segmentation, personalization and scalable campaign execution.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements (FDA, EMA, HIPAA, GDPR, etc.) while maximizing reach and impact.
  • Lead and expand Zimmer Biomet's celebrity ambassador program, building communityand patient networks, identifying additional influencer opportunities, and integrating campaigns into the broader marketing funnel to drive engagement, conversions, and measurable downstream impact.
  • Apply patient insights, market research, and behavioral data to inform brand positioning, differentiate Zimmer Biomet in the marketplace, and identify new opportunities to deliver value to patients and to the business.
  • Lead campaign execution with operational rigor, ensuring strategies are delivered on time, on budget, and with measurable ROI.
  • Oversee patient-facing content and messaging across digital channels (search, display, social, email, communities, partnerships, point-of-care), ensuring clarity, consistency, and conversion effectiveness.
  • Collaborate closely with leadership and cross-functional partners to align patient and provider communications and market development programs; develop sales and lead generation strategies, campaigns and workflows; ensure compliance; and strengthen downstream impact.
  • Foster influential partnerships and direct a network of external agencies and creative partners, while building internal team capabilities, to ensure Zimmer Biomet delivers innovative, patient-centered campaigns that expand reach and drive measurable downstream impact.
  • Nurture relationships with critical patient advocacy groups, consumer organizations and healthcare providers.
  • Track, analyze, and act on performance data, measuring engagement, conversion, adherence, revenue contribution and lifetime value to continually optimize DTP programs and strategies.

Your Background

  • Strategic and growth-oriented thinker with a proven track record of connecting patient insights to business objectives, designing end-to-end marketing strategies, and delivering measurable impact on engagement, conversion, and revenue.
  • Data-driven decision maker skilled in analyzing performance metrics, patient behaviors, and market trends to optimize campaigns, drive funnel progression, and scale results.
  • Exceptional communicator and storyteller with the ability to craft compelling, patient-centered narratives across multiple channels that inspire action and build brand trust.
  • Innovative problem-solver adept at identifying new channels, partnership opportunities, and monetization levers while integrating creative solutions into operational workflows.
  • Collaborative leader and influencer capable of building credibility, motivating internal teams, and managing external partners and agencies to deliver cohesive, high-impact campaigns.
  • Operationally excellent and detail-oriented with strong project management skills, the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment, assess risks, and make sound, data-informed decisions.
  • Lifecycle and funnel expertise, experienced in designing nurture programs, managing multi-stage patient journeys, and optimizing engagement and conversion at each touchpoint.
  • Change agent and continuous learner who stays ahead of digital marketing, consumer behavior, and patient engagement trends, bringing innovation to drive both patient outcomes and business growth.
  • Required Education / Experience :

  • Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of related experience, or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 15+ years of related experience required.
  • Proven success in direct-to-patient, consumer healthcare or direct-to-consumer marketing, with experience designing and scaling multi-channel campaigns that drive engagement, conversion and measurable business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated expertise in leveraging data, performance metrics and patient insights to optimize campaigns, segment audiences, measure ROI and improve funnel progression and lifecycle management.
  • Hands-on experience designing, implementing, and optimizing marketing processes, workflows, and automation systems to enable scalable, efficient, and personalized campaigns.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a patient-first mindset.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory guidelines for patient communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage external partners.

  • Travel Expectations

    Up to 10-20% travel (dependent upon work location)
