Overview

Baker Sterchi Cowden & Rice LLC, a litigation boutique of 200 employees, has an opportunity for an attorney with at least five years of experience in insurance coverage / bad faith litigation defense in its Kansas City office.

Candidates must be licensed in Missouri and Kansas, have the ability to work independently on complex insurance coverage and bad faith litigation cases, have excellent written and oral communication skills, and be skilled in insurance policy review, legal analysis and legal writing, including insurance coverage opinions.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage file through litigation process independently and as a part of the case team.
• Handle document productions and other discovery tasks.
• Preparation of witnesses for deposition.
• Taking and defending depositions.
• Prepare pleadings, briefs, and motions.
• Review and analyze insurance policies, contracts, and other legal documents.
• Prepare detailed insurance coverage opinions.
• Court hearing preparation and attendance.
• Trial preparation and attendance.
