Job Description :

Join the dedicated team at MyMichigan Health - Midland as a registered nurse in the Medical-Surgical unit, providing compassionate care to patients with diverse medical needs, including cancer diagnoses, medical step-down cases, and general medical overflow. This role requires a solid understanding of the pathophysiology of cancer and the ability to deliver comprehensive nursing care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Key Responsibilities :

Patient Assessment & Care Planning (30%) : Conduct thorough assessments of patients' needs regularly, developing and updating individualized care plans in accordance with physician orders and nursing best practices.

Direct Patient Care (30%) : Provide hands-on nursing services, including medication administration, treatments, responding to call lights, assisting with transfers, and responding to alarms promptly.

Treatment Evaluation & Collaboration (20%) : Monitor and evaluate patient responses to treatments, collaborating with the healthcare team to modify care plans for optimal outcomes.

Order Processing & Follow-Up (10%) : Accurately process physician orders and follow up on medication changes and clarifications to ensure safe and effective patient care.

Qualifications & Requirements :

Current and Valid Registered Nurse License (License Number, State of licensure) is mandatory .

Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required .

Experience in Medical-Surgical or Oncology Units is highly preferred.

Strong knowledge of cancer pathophysiology and medical care protocols.

Excellent clinical assessment skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Ability to handle high-pressure situations with compassion and professionalism.

Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.

Preferred Education & Experience :

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent preferred.

Minimum of 1-2 years of nursing experience in a medical-surgical or oncology setting.

Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
