Job description

Project Coordinator

We are seeking an organized, communicative, and proactive professional to support Detroit's mayoral transition team. The candidate will report to a centralized Project Manager and support policy committees comprised of civic leaders who advise on incoming administration policy priorities and lead research workstreams.

Responsibilities :

  • Liaise directly with committee chairs and support the Mayor-Elect's transition committee with planning and documentation.
  • Facilitate committee meetings and discussions with civic leaders and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and execute a citywide survey to gather public input on policy priorities.
  • Conduct research, synthesize results, and write clear and actionable policy recommendations.
  • Ensure timely communication and reporting to leadership.

Essential Skills :

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills for engaging diverse stakeholders.
  • Research and analytical capability to interpret data, conduct case studies, synthesize findings, and write clear recommendations.
  • Proactive problem-solver who can work independently and collaboratively.
  • Deep familiarity with local government operations, public policy, or civic engagement preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and virtual collaboration tools.
  • Additional Skills & Qualifications :

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage important relationships for clients.
  • Flexible and adaptable to evolving priorities.
  • Availability to travel and attend in-person events and meetings.
  • Work Environment :

    Most of the work will be virtual with some in-person meetings at City Hall in Detroit. There will also be some meetings citywide at various meeting venues for the committees. Expected travel onsite may be once or twice a month, or more depending on committee needs.

    Job Type & Location :

    This is a Contract position based out of Detroit, MI.

    Pay and Benefits :

    The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00 / hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
