Job description

Job Summary

The Business Development Account Executive at Chloeta plays a key role in advancing our business development initiatives for a specific client group, the Department of Defense (DoD). Chloeta is seeking an individual who possesses a consultative mindset and a deep understanding of business strategy to help define and implement effective development plans. The selected candidate will collaborate directly with federal clients to gain insight into their specific challenges and needs, utilizing expertise to craft customized solutions that set Chloeta apart from competitors and align with the client's goals. This person will also partner with internal teams to devise robust contracting strategies that foster growth and ensure long-term success. This position will be instrumental in propelling Chloeta's broader business development objectives forward.

Supervisory Responsibilities : No

Job Classification : Permanent; Full-Time, FLSA Exempt

Duty Station : Reston, VA (remote / virtual)

Travel : Ability to travel 50% or more of the time to meet with clients and attend events

Duties / Responsibilities

  • Sets, implements, and maintains business development goals and direction.
  • Drives growth through customer engagement, technical differentiation, and contracting strategies.
  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with government decision-makers, contracting offices, and key stakeholders.
  • Effectively presents to government and internal stakeholders.
  • Conducts financial analysis, scenario planning, and forecasting.
  • Identifies business opportunities and negotiates agreements.
  • Evaluates new markets and business opportunities, developing relevant initiatives.
  • Collaborates with support and operations teams.
  • Promotes Chloeta's capabilities to the designated client group.
  • Identifies and qualifies new business opportunities.
  • Develops account management plans and opportunity capture strategies.
  • Adapts strategies to shifting government priorities, budgets, and requirements.
  • Ensures compliance with ethics and regulations in government interactions.
  • Reports pipeline projections and account plans to leadership.
  • Applies Shipley Business Development Lifecycle methodology.
  • Documents business development activities in appropriate internal systems.
  • Represents Chloeta at conferences, industry days, trade shows and client visits.

Required Skills / Abilities

  • Proven success in sales and business development.
  • Demonstrated experience in capturing both large and small government contracts.
  • Ability to create and execute both tactical and strategic business development plans.
  • Strong relationship-building and business development skills.
  • Exceptional organizational, planning, and communication abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of government procurement processes, including GSA, 8(a), and Full & Open.
  • Familiarity with the Shipley Business Development Lifecycle.
  • Proficient in using tools such as Salesforce, Microsoft Office, and Teams to communicate, present, and report.
  • Education and Experience

  • Required : Bachelor's degree in business or a related field, with 10-15 years of experience in federal government business development, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, etc.
  • This position may require frequent travel.
  • Lifting requirements - this position may be required to lift to 30 pounds while transporting and setting up exhibition booths.

    Due to the nature of Chloeta's services, this position is contingent upon completing with a satisfactory outcome some or all of the following pre-employment background screenings : government security clearance, federal and state criminal background checks, drug test (urinalysis), Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review, educational history, employment history, and / or credit check. In accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), pre-employment background screenings will require the employee's written authorization and will occur after acceptance of an offer of employment and prior to commencing work. Additionally, employees are required to complete the federal I-9 / E-Verify process.

    Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy

    Employees may be subject to undergoing additional drug screens and / or alcohol testing at any time during the period of employment, including without prior notice.
