Tasks and responsibilities
Provide day-to-day guidance and technical direction for a team of 1015 Design Release Engineers (DREs).
Mentor and develop team members, ensuring adherence to quality and process standards within the automotive industry.
Monitor workload, prioritize tasks, and resolve blockers proactively.
Project management and coordination
Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineering teams to plan and track project deliverables for 12 active programs.
Coordinate design activities with internal and external stakeholders, including engineering teams, suppliers, and customers.
Monitor and control project progress, including adherence to schedules and budgets.
Conduct regular project status updates and reporting to management.
Quality assurance and validation
Conduct design reviews and ensure compliance with quality standards.
Collaborate with the testing and validation teams to ensure functionality and reliability.
Analyze and remediate design and manufacturing issues.
Coordinate design reviews, status updates and change management.
Technical support and problem solving
Provide technical support to production and other departments.
Conduct failure analysis and implement corrective solutions and actions.
Support the integration of new technologies and innovations into the wiring systems.
Documentation and reporting
Create and maintain technical documentation and reports.
Ensure proper archiving of all relevant documents and data.
Job Requirements
Education and qualifications
Required : Bachelors degree in Electrical and / or Mechanical Engineering or related.
Required : 10+ years experience in EDS / Wiring Harness Design & Release.
Professional experience
Additional experience and / or qualifications in the field of electrical engineering, automotive engineering, mechatronics or comparable qualifications are an advantage.
Experience in project management and coordination of development projects.
Proven experience coordinating a small engineering team.
Professional competences
In-depth knowledge of design release processes.
Experience with CAD systems and software (e.g. CATIA V5, 3DX, NX).
Knowledge of the relevant norms and standards in the automotive industry.
Ability to identify process improvements eliminating waste and increasing efficiency.
Contribute to team knowledge base by sharing best practices across the organization.
Personal skills
Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal. Additional ability to communicate in German is an advantage.
Strong analytical and problem?oriented mindset.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
High level of initiative and independence.
