Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU float pool position requiring 2 years of ICU experience and active WA or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
Position is primarily in the Nursing Float Pool with assignments across ICU, PCU, Med-Surg, and ED Holding unitsPrimary work on the ED Hold Floating unit with patient ratios of ICU 1 : 2, PCU 1 : 4, and Med-Surg 1 : 512-hour night shifts, with schedule varying based on unit needsPossible partial-shift floating within scope of practice to various units including MSICU, PCU, Med-Surg, CCU, Rehab, and COVID overflowPatient population includes respiratory failure, GI bleeds, sepsis, post-op, DKA, stroke, ortho, psych, oncology, CHF, COVID, and moreEMR used is EPIC; experience preferredEquipment includes Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensingNo requests for time off during holidays or self-scheduling allowedSchedule is provided three weeks at a time, issued about ten days prior to startSupport includes techs, 24 / 7 RT, hospitalists, and intensivistsTwo-day hospital orientation, one day on assigned unit, and four hours unit orientation when floatingACLS RN may assist with hospital-wide patient transport and support the ED Hold Area during night shiftsProfessional attire required; specifics to be provided during orientationRequests for time off up to 5 days permitted, longer requests must be approvedMust call staffing office prior to each shift for assignment locationRequirements
Active WA or compact RN licenseMinimum 2 years of ICU experienceCurrent ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications requiredProficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, vent management, invasive line management, ostomy care, trachs, and general drainsMust have strong communication and patient education skillsTraveler Telemetry Competency requiredFirst-time travelers will be consideredBenefits
