About the Role :
We are seeking a scientist or engineer with a proven track record in automation and scaling, eager to take part in the development of a high-growth, fast-paced, automated laboratory.
The ideal candidate will have an interdisciplinary background in molecular biology, lab automation, and programming, with experience in designing, developing, testing, implementing, and supporting automated sample-processing workflows.
The ideal candidate has a background in a requirements-driven approaches within a clinical laboratory or molecular biology-based laboratory.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Apply scientific methods and engineering skills in efforts for scalability sample processing workflows.
- Collaborate or lead cross-functional teams working in a variety of projects to explore, develop, optimize, test, and put in place scalable solutions for sample processing workflows.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of business and user requirements and improving efficiency, throughput, and quality of processes.
- Contribute to protocol generation, report writing, and presentation preparation.
- Operate, program, and troubleshoot liquid handling robotics platforms for whole blood separation - preferably on a Hamilton platform.
- Integrate automated methods with sample tracking and data management software (is a plus)
Qualifications
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline, with 5+ years of related experience or MS with 3+ years of related work experience will also be considered.
- Experience streamlining workflows, developing automated laboratory processes, and instrumentation systems, from concept generation.
As well as requirements gathering through to process validation and implementation.
- Experience with operating and programming liquid handling robotics platforms (Hamilton, Agilent)
- Basic programming knowledge of Python, C# or relevant similar languages
- Experience in automated development of next-generation sequencing (NGS) assays and / or standard molecular biology techniques.
ie : nucleic acid isolation and purification, DNA quantitation, PCR, etc.)
- Verification & Validation experience, URS, IQ, OQ, PQ, FAT, SAT, pFMEA, and technical files for submission
- Experience working within regulated environments (IVD, LDT, etc.)
- Strong communication and collaborative skills
- Ability to work, internal & external with diverse scientific, engineering, operational, and regulatory disciplines.
- Experience with statistical data analysis, monitoring data quality, and troubleshooting technical problems.
Additional Information
For positions based in Palo Alto, CA or Redwood City, CA, the base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000 to $164,700.
The range does not include benefits, and if applicable, bonus, commission, or equity.
Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including, but not limited to, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Employee may be required to lift routine office supplies and use office equipment. Majority of the work is performed in a desk / office environment;
however, there may be exposure to high noise levels, fumes, and biohazard material in the laboratory environment. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
