Job Summary :
The Behavioral Patient Care Technician (BPCT) supports clinical staff by managing patients with escalating or violent behaviors and reducing negative visitor behavior through communication techniques. They proactively round on high-risk patients, participate in post-incident debriefings, and stay updated on de-escalation training. Additionally, they monitor the safety of UMMC staff, students, and faculty in relation to patients under constant observation.
Education & Experience
Education and Experience Required :
One (1) year experience in a healthcare setting
Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required :
N / A
Preferred Qualifications :
Previous experience as a hospital tech or nursing assistant preferred.
Training in de-escalation principles such as CPI or WELLE

Interpersonal skills to interact with patients, visitors, and staff. Verbal and written communication skills. Ability to understand and enforce safety procedures.
