Overview
McCormick Taylor is seeking an experienced Structural / Bridge Engineer (Structural Engineer III) with a minimum of 5 years of bridge design experience to join our Baltimore, MD office location. The primary duties of the Structural Engineer III are to perform structural analysis and prepare design calculations for various transportation structures in accordance with AASHTO LRFD and DOT (MDOT, MdTA, MTA, and local MD agencies) specifications and standards. Qualified candidates should have a diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas related to bridge design; geotechnical / foundation design, substructure design, superstructure design, and retaining and noise walls. Candidates should also have bridge inspection experience and qualify as a NBIS Inspection Team Leader.
Responsibilities
- Performing complex structural planning analysis and design for all structural aspects of transportation projects
- Perform detailed structural calculations in support of design and rehabilitation for bridges, culverts, and retaining walls
- Perform NBIS level inspections for bridges, culverts, and other transportation related structures; including writing inspection reports
- Support completion of final submittal documents for design and / or rehabilitation projects
- Assist Manager with business development and MD project growth
- Work will be in a hybrid in-office / work-from-home environment, with some field work and travel required
Qualifications / Requirements
Minimum 5 years of structural engineering experience on transportation projects for the MDOT, MdTA, MTA, and local MD agencies. Additional McCormick Taylor client experience (VDOT, FDOT, PennDOT, etc.) a plusB.S. or M.S. in Civil EngineeringProfessional Engineer (P.E.) Licensure, Maryland License PreferredNHI Fracture Critical Inspection Training a plusExperience in all aspects of bridge design projectsProficient with MicroStation CAD softwareExperience with FEM structural analysis software (STAAD, CSI, etc.)Experience with bridge design and analysis software (Merlin-Dash, RCPIER, CONSPAN, etc.)OpenRoads and OpenBridge experience beneficialExperience in load rating and bridge rehabilitationThorough knowledge of AASHTO LRFD and DOT / Agency design standards and specificationsExcellent oral and written communication skillsBenefits
