The purpose of the Sales Associate I is to assist The Salvation Army in the operation of the Thrift Store for the Reno Adult Rehabilitation Program. This job description is a broad outline of responsibilities.

Essential duties and responsibilities include : stocking, cleaning, rag out goods, operating the cash register and preparing daily paperwork. Responsible for keys to open and / or close store. Responsible for maintaining good customer relations and giving prompt, courteous assistance to all customers. Answer telephone in a courteous fashion and direct caller to appropriate department. Ensure store appearance is clean and orderly. Responsible for janitorial duties : i.e., cleaning windows, vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, cleaning bathrooms, etc. as assigned by management. Other duties as assigned by Store Manager or Assistant Manager.

Knowledge, skills, abilities and other qualifications requirements include : ability to handle cash, make change and operate register. Ability to take instructions and carry them out without direct supervision. Knowledge of merchandise preferred. Previous retail experience a plus. Good rapport with customers. Strong ability to utilize high levels of time management and multitasking.

Certificates, licenses, registrations include : Must possess a valid Nevada Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle. Must be 21 years or older. Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training.

Physical requirements include : ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, and / or pull objects. Ability to reach overhead. Ability to operate telephone. Ability to lift (50) pounds non-continuously. Ability to operate a computer. Ability to process written, visual, and / or verbal information. Ability to operate basic office equipment and tools.
