The Opportunity
This position works out of our Columbus, Ohio Easton Square location in the Nutrition Division.
Primary Function / Primary Goals / Objectives :
- Provide technical and analytical support for customs and trade compliance matters at the site / division level, ensuring compliance with all relevant customs regulations and trade laws and regulations, including 19CFR, 15CFR, FDA, USDA, and other US regulatory agency requirements.
- Operates with general direction and supervision from the Manager. Incumbent is accountable for compliant importation of goods and services (including machinery), as well as proper classification and valuation. Failure to comply is a violation of law and could result in significant fines or penalties.
- This employee must have the ability to analyze opportunities and make recommendations on options and / or alternatives to achieve divisional financial objectives. The Analyst will be privy to highly confidential financial information and must work within the scope of attorney / consultant and client privilege, where deemed appropriate. The proper balance between cost optimization and compliance must be maintained.
What You'll Work On
Major Responsibilities :
Applies working knowledge of import and export regulations and requirements to support business needs. Capable of processing imports, for a minimum of 2-3 desk, or exports of all types, in compliance with GTC and Division policies and procedures.Consolidate and analyze import and non-commercial export data to identify risks or opportunities for savings. Prepare reports and make recommendations to management, as appropriate.Review and analyze import / export documentation for accuracy and regulatory compliance.Participate in shared responsibility for import and export processing, with all other I / E Processors, including coordinated coverage during holidays.Ensure timely and accurate response to Broker Requests for Information (BRFI) and follow-up to ensure resolution.Classify products using Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes and ensure proper valuation.Proficient in writing classification (HTSUS / Schedule B) diligence memos.Proficient in writing country of origin determination diligence memos.As directed by Manager, implement appropriate corrective actions in response to any findings in the Corporate C&TC compliance assessment.Interface with related functional areas (logistics, purchasing, materials management, etc.) on customs matters and coordinate training for personnel in these areas, as needed.Daily monitoring of import shipments including customs clearances, CBP Requests for Information, Post-Entry Amendments (P8D) Proof of receipt and Proof of payment, and PSC.Conduct effective and timely transactional review / audit of all import records. Elevate issues requiring correction to Corporate C&TC.Provide analytical support to general import-related projects, as needed.Personally educate self on latest Customs, FDA, and other government agency import regulations.Consistently develops accurate and appropriate documentation in support of imports and exports, as appropriate.Prepare reports and metrics related to compliance performance.Thorough understanding of GTC and Division compliance policies and procedures.Attends key annual departmental training - HTSUS classification, FDA Product Code, Incoterms, etc.Key Expectations : Takes ownership of role. Bachelor's degree : Required. Business, logistics / transportation, or other related field.Minimum 2-3 years' experience in import operations, international business, or other related field.Preferred
Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.Attention to detail and ability to work independently or in cross-functional teams.Proficient in MS Office, Reporting, Excel, Pivot Tables and Filter Sorting.Strong understanding of import / export regulations and trade documentation.Proficiency in trade compliance software.Certification in trade compliance (e.g., LCB, CUSECO, CES, CTPAT).MISC

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
