UTILITIES MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN III (CLASS CODE 3405)

Job Title : Lead Level Maintenance Technician

This is a lead level maintenance position at Sewerage & Water Board's Facilities Maintenance Division. An individual performs a variety of skilled construction, maintenance and repair tasks including pipe fitting, carpentry, meter repair and installations and repairs to pump systems and stations. Assigned tasks increase in scope and difficulty as the incumbent demonstrates the ability to perform the full-range of duties respective of this class; and related work as required.

Minimum qualifications include :

High School Diploma or G.E.D. Equivalency Diploma AND a valid drivers license. EITHER :

Three (3) years of construction or building maintenance experience OR three (3) years of construction or building maintenance experience with 12 months as a Utilities Maintenance Technician II. OR eighteen (18) months of construction or building maintenance experience as a Utilities Maintenance Technician II with requisite training in welding, electrical, and / or mechanical fields. AND a letter from the appointing authority certifying applicants experience and training in the required field.

Prior to appointment, the hiring agency is required to verify education and valid drivers license claimed by the applicant to qualify for this classification. If selected for hire, applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials to the hiring agency prior to their start date in this job classification.

Domicile requirements are currently waived for the purpose of application. Residency requirements are waived for all Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans positions vacant and advertised for at least 90 days. Employees hired under this waiver remain exempt from the citys residency requirement for the duration of their employment at the Sewerage and Water Board.
