POSITION DUTIES
The Assistant State Superintendent for the Division of EarlyIntervention and Special Education Services provides strategic leadership toensure the development implementation and oversight of evidence-basedprograms and policies that support students with disabilities from birththrough age 21. This role ensures equitable access to high-quality instructionand services in the least restrictive environment aligned with federal andstate regulations including IDEA and the Blueprint for Marylands Future. Theposition advances the Maryland State Department of Educations mission bypromoting inclusive practices improving outcomes for students withdisabilities and fostering collaboration across agencies families andcommunities. The Assistant State Superintendent also works collaboratively withother MSDE divisions to ensure that both general and special education teachersreceive high-quality coordinated professional learning that supports inclusiveand effective instructional practices.
Position Duties Include :
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education : Mastersdegree in education special education educational leadership schoolpsychology or a related field
Experience : Five years of progressive leadership experience in special education or earlyintervention at the district state or organizational level
