Responsibilities
- Responsible for procuring and planning of goods and services for R&D and Pre-production to meet and maintain service levels, quality, cost / project budget and targeted inventory levels
- Works to ensure adequate demands on Imperative care manufacturing as part of the S&OP process
- Establish and foster relationships with suppliers, communicating, and negotiating with suppliers to ensure delivery schedules are met, best prices are obtained and in compliance with regulatory requirements
- Support sourcing, purchasing, planning, and scheduling the movement of raw materials, packaging materials, parts, components, supplies and other items to meet new product introduction (NPI) and production ramp-up activities
- Partner with R&D in the development of NPI projects to support procurement of material from prototype through Pre-production, manages change notice and impact on on hand inventory
- Supports R&D group for early supplier selection and cost negotiation; initiates new supplier set-up process with Quality and purchasing teams
- Reviews purchase requisitions for completeness; reviews support documentation, currency, payment terms, alignment of backup documentation to requisition, and clarity of description
- Create purchase requests and provide monthly forecasts to suppliers based on pre-production planning requirements
- Work with engineering functions and key stakeholders to ensure supplier performance and deliverables are met and to identify cost and timing issues and bring them to resolution
- Lead recurring meetings with key vendors to ensure that delivery schedules are on-track, address supplier-related issues, and drive to develop solutions with suppliers to mitigate risk, minimize delays, seek cost reduction and avoidance
- Analyze and initiate steps to minimize the financial and operations impact of carrying excess, obsolete and expired materials
- Ensures processes are in place to manage transactions from the engineering warehouse to prototype production while maintaining adequate documentation of traceability
- Track product cost and apply various costing and pricing techniques to effectively negotiate the best pricing with suppliers (benchmark study, VA / VE, competitive bidding, BOM cost, should cost, etc.). Identify cost reduction opportunities through various avenues such as process, design, content reduction; drive timely implementation
- Maintain procurement records, integrity of procurement data and content in ERP system and shared space by proactively tracking and monitoring open purchase orders, supplier confirmations and delivery schedules
- Monitors status of open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery of all materials, including timely resolution, communication, and mitigation of future potential issues
- Expedite material delivery or explore other possible options with suppliers to avoid parts stock out
- Actively promote and support the Quality Management System, Quality Objectives, and Quality Policy
- Assure that you and functional subordinates (if applicable) are trained on all applicable procedures and processes according to Good Manufacturing Practices, applicable FDA and Regulatory requirements
- Actively promote and support the company's Management Review process
- Inform responsible personnel of concerns involving product quality
- Perform job functions in a safe and effective manner
- Other duties as assigned
Background and experience
AA degree in a Technical or Business discipline and a minimum of 7 years of experience (or Bachelor's degree in a Technical or Business discipline with 4 years of experience) of MRP planning in a regulated environment (i.e. medical device, pharmaceutical) preferred. NPI experience desiredExcellent written and oral communication skills, with demonstrated analytical capabilities, business savvy, and leadership skills; with a focus on details and accuracy and a strong aim to improve existing process and systemsSelf-motivated individual capable of working independently as well as strong team player collaborating with cross-functional teams; build relationships at all levels within the internal organization and external suppliers / vendorsStrong capabilities to develop and to balance immediate / long term priorities with appropriate urgency to meet deadlines and exceptional multi-tasking skillsWorking knowledge of quality system requirements and compliance (e.g. traceability, QSRs, ISO, MDD / MDR requirements) and other applicable regulationsExperience working with ERP / MRP / Documentation control systemsUnderstanding of contracts (supply, services, non-disclosures agreements, etc.).
