The Optum AI Vice President of Client Scientific Solutions will build & lead a world-class AI team focused on solving complex healthcare problems using the latest advances in AI. This leader will build and scale a team of elite AI researchers and engineers, ensuring rapid translation of new external AI capabilities into client-focused AI solutions across multiple modalities and techniques.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. Hybrid in MN / DC : This position follows a hybrid schedule with four in-office days per week.

Primary Responsibilities :

• Applied Research to Production : Deliver reusable, secure, and performant models and APIs ready for integration into client products and services
• Collaboration : Partner with Product Strategy and Engineering to align research outputs with roadmap priorities and ML-Ops standards
• Innovation Leadership : Assess white space in client environments and develop novel solution patterns (e.g., LLMs, Neuro-symbolic AI, multimodal models, computer vision, RL)
• Responsible AI : Embed governance, bias evaluation, and compliance into all stages of model development
• Ecosystem Development : Build partnerships with academia, startups, and technology providers to accelerate innovation
• Talent Strategy : Recruit, develop, and retain top-tier AI research talent; foster a culture of scientific rigor and commercial impact

Required Qualifications :

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $196,600 to $337,100 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
