Senior Control Systems Engineer
Our client, an advanced drilling solutions company, is looking for a Senior Control Systems Engineer is responsible for the performance, integrity, and continuous enhancement of mission-critical control systems that support offshore operations. This role provides technical leadership for control system upgrades, software development, troubleshooting, and commissioning across legacy and next-generation platforms.
Responsibilities
- Develop, program, and implement PLC software for new control system projects, ensuring reliability, scalability, and compliance with industry standards.
- Maintain and enhance existing PLC systems, troubleshooting and resolving software issues while executing upgrades and performance improvements.
- Provide senior-level real-time operational support, including remote and onsite troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
- Design, update, and optimize HMI / SCADA systems to improve operator efficiency and usability.
- Lead testing, FAT / SAT, and commissioning activities for new systems to ensure specifications and operational readiness are met.
- Coordinate with offshore teams to plan and execute software deployments and control system installations with minimal operational disruption.
- Create and maintain engineering documentation including I / O lists, tag lists, FDS, and change logs.
- Contribute to FEED studies by evaluating requirements, integration risks, and solution strategies.
- Define and maintain control system simulation parameters to support operator training and system validation.
- Participate in on-call rotation, providing expert technical support during critical operational events.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in automation, Instrumentation, Automation, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering5+ years of hands-on experience with Siemens PCS 7 in offshore, marine, or industrial environmentsExpert knowledge of Siemens SIMATIC S7-400 PLCs, WinCC HMI / SCADA, and TIA PortalStrong understanding of industrial networks, communication protocols, and SQL database integrationScripting experience with VBS, ANSI-C, or VBA (WinCC) is a strong advantageKnowledge of drilling systems, subsea equipment, or related control interfaces preferredTravel Requirements
Regional and international travel to support global operationsOffshore travel for installations, commissioning, and operational supportTravel to training centers, customer sites, and technical workshops as requiredDo not apply unless you are authorized to work in the United States for any employer as client company cannot sponsor or transfer visas at this time.
