Description : Position Summary
The Senior Project Manager – Aviation Engineering will provide senior level project management oversight on airport design projects. The Senior Project Manager will develop strong working relationships with airport authorities throughout the region, state agencies, counties and municipalities and other consulting firms. They must be knowledgeable of FAA criteria and design standards and have the ability to obtain PE licensure in multiple states.
Responsibilities include the technical excellence of aviation engineering projects and on time and within budget project deliverables. This position has business development and management responsibilities for the aviation engineering. The position also includes a significant contribution to strategic planning and building the aviation practice throughout the region.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Business Development :
- Develop business and market Shrewsberry services in Indianapolis and other geographic areas
- Identify and market additional business opportunities with key clients
- Participate in client relations management for assigned key clients
- Participate in proposal presentations and business development activities
- Utilize CRM for tracking of all business development opportunities
- Meet with new / existing clients to discover project information
- Work with technical staff to develop proposal sections and scopes of work
Management :
Manage and be accountable for the overall financial performance and day-to-day operations for assigned engineering projects, including meeting or exceeding performance metricsImplement current and proposed growth and sales plans and develop strategic plan for the departmentManage and deliver quality aviation projects on-time, within budget and to the satisfaction of the clientIn conjunction with the Shrewsberry Safety Officer, conduct job hazard analysis and create jobsite specific health and safety plans as requiredMentor, and assist junior engineers in developing final design plansEffective utilization of staff to maximize value for clientCoordinate work efforts and review work performedFoster a positive collaborative environment between divisions and offices; promote Shrewsberry cultureUtilize project management software for successful project management, timely invoicing of client, and accurate / timely reporting of employee expenses and timeTechnical :
Serve as project expert on specific tasks or projects; routinely manages several projects concurrentlyProvide technical direction and development on the scope of engineering work, detailed and on-going schedule input, man-hour requirements, and budgets for the assigned project elementsMitigate project riskAssign projects to designers and engineers and coordinates a team effort to support the projectManage scope, identify and document changes in scope, and seek amendments for changesPerform airfield civil engineering design tasks for projects from preliminary to final design; manage thebidding process and provide services during construction
Prepare complex studies, construction documents, drawings, maps, reports and supporting documentationProvide senior QC review and direction on technical projectsReview detailed and complex reports detailing tests conducted and resultsVisit work sites on a frequent basis to monitor project progressCommunicate with clients regarding project issues and attends meetingsDefine scope of work and man-hour requirementsResponsible for ensuring that task, project schedules, and budgets are metDevelop engineering reports, specifications, cost estimates, and prepare final bid packagesLead / participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost, and scheduling performanceIdentify schedule and cost variances and develop and implement recommendations for corrective actionRequirements :
Education and / or Experience
Bachelor's in Civil Engineering; Master’s degree in Civil Engineering preferred10 years of experience with significant airside designDemonstrated experience in successful application of FAA criteria and regulations, project management, client interaction, and staff developmentBusiness development and marketing experience including writing proposals, scopes of work, and budgets for projected workKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :
Demonstrated leadership skills, sense of vision and ability to motivate and manage others with a proven record of successExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong organization and time management skillsStrong client management and consultant team management skillsAbility to manage & mentor staff, and direct resources effectivelyAbility to provide practical and results oriented technical solutions for projectsLICENSES; CERTIFICATES; SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS :
