Research Assistant II

Onsite

Summary :

At our company, our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences.

Our team of researchers is evaluating novel interaction techniques and user interfaces to improve human experiences in the augmented world.

We are looking for a motivated Research Assistant to join our team and support the human subject research studies we are conducting.

The chosen candidates will work with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers and will have access to cutting edge technology, resources, and testing facilities.

We are specifically looking for candidates with experience in supporting human behavioral experiments.

Virtual Reality Audio Research at our company brings together a world-class team of researchers, developers, and engineers to create virtual sounds that are perceptually indistinguishable from reality, and redefining human hearing.

These two initiatives will help us to connect people by allowing them to feel together despite being physically apart, and allow them to converse in even the most difficult listening environments.

As a Research Assistant, your key responsibilities are to facilitate the smooth collection of data and ensure strict compliance with documentation for research studies involving human participants.

You will be at the heart of both in-person and remote studies, taking charge of their organization, planning, execution, and data collection.

Working with our staff, you will ensure that every aspect of the study setup and protocols aligns with industry-leading standards of safety, privacy, and security.

Responsibilities :

  • Understanding the study's objectives and background, and executing the study. This includes collection of informed consent, running experiment protocols, handling of confidential data, data annotation, and creation of basic reports.
  • Conduct literature reviews on a wide field of research topics
  • Assist with recruiting and scheduling of experiment participants
  • Help with experimental design, documentation, and provide feedback during design
  • Preparing and setting up equipment for studies, coordinating with engineers, equipment vendors, safety evaluators, and the research team to ensure proper setup.

Required Characteristics :

  • Bachelors or equivalent experience in a closely-related research area
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and personal management skills
  • Some experience working in a research / academic environment involving human subjects
  • A good understanding of information technology, including filesystems, secure shell (ssh), and experience with spreadsheet applications.

Proficiency in using Windows, Linux, or MacOS (both command line and GUI) is required.

Desired Characteristics :

  • Bachelors in the field of psychology ( neuroscience), cognitive science (, artificial intelligence), computer science (, human-computer interaction), engineering (, human-factors), or a closely-related research area
  • Experience analyzing data and / or designing research protocols
  • Experience collecting user interaction data and working with related technical equipment (, inertial sensing with IMUs, optical sensing, EMG).
  • Some knowledge of scripting and / or coding, preferably with experience in Matlab, Python, JavaScript, or other languages.

Pay range is $26 - $31 per hour with full benefits available, including paid time off, medical / dental / vision / life insurance, 401K, parental leave, and more.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

THE PROMISES WE MAKE :

At Crystal Equation, we empower people and advance technology initiatives by building trust. Your recruiter will prep you for the interview, obtain feedback, guide you through any necessary paperwork and provide everything you need for a successful start.

We will serve to empower you along the way and provide the path for your professional journey.
