Basic Function
Under minimal direction, this position will focus on new business sales of our portfolio purchase credit card offering – Agent Managed Services program. This role is responsible for educating the financial institutions in their territory and working with the FIs and our partners to purchase the financial institution’s credit card portfolio along with providing PSCU’s processing, progressive cardholder tools, and our service and support. This sales role focuses on lead generation, qualification, opportunity management, selling, and closing portfolio purchases, credit card processing, cardholder experiences, and financial institution service and support. This position will perform a high level of quality sales process and positive corporate image with prospective and existing Financial Institutions. A successful candidate will enter new markets, build our brand reputation and form successful relationships with consultants and executives at the Financial Institutions.
As a quoted position, success will be measured by portfolios purchased. In this role, you will target new opportunities using industry knowledge and an understanding of the competitive landscape. There is a strong financial credit card portfolio understanding required for this position. A successful candidate will perform a high level of quality sales process and a positive corporate image with partners, internal resources, and prospective/existing Financial Institutions. To drive success the candidate will select the best opportunities in market, work with partners, present the offers, educate, enroll, sell and close PSCU’s credit card Agent Managed Services to financial institutions.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Develop external business by promoting our financial products and solutions in both new and existing markets to increase market share within assigned territory.
- Assist the VP, Sales with forecasting revenue from all new business sales.
- Research and contact key individuals of influence at target Financial Institutions to develop, assess, and qualify their willingness to partner with the company as a function of the value they would bring to the company’s portfolio or growth strategy.
- Document business development activity and pipeline.
- Gather competitive intelligence and knowledge surrounding industry trends, share insights.
- Build and lead sales pipeline by exercising weekly structured calling campaign and timely following up on lead referrals and RFPs.
- Participate in regional sales activities to include nationally coordinated sales campaigns.
- Create and present, virtually and on site, formal proposals that include a detailed pricing analysis and incentive package.
- Establish and maintain effective communication with prospective Financial Institutions through appropriate contact channels; identify challenges throughout sales process that need to be overcome in order to successfully execute a commitment.
- Work with partners and present offers to prospects for the purchase portfolios.
- Assist the respective parties with contracts, negotiations, redlines and execution of agreements.
- Ensure smooth and efficient hand-off process of committed Financial Institutions to respective Account Executive who will maintain relationship.
- Achieve year-end revenue target established at beginning of fiscal year.
- Maintain effective working relationships within the industry by initiating or responding to invitations to serve as guest speaker, participate in informative projects, and attend state league meetings.
- Stay informed on industry trends, changes in industry regulations and competitive landscape.
- Participate in meetings, negotiations and other high-level strategic discussions with target companies.
- Strengthen brand awareness through active external organization and event (e.g., conferences, trade shows) involvement.
- Engage subject matter experts when necessary to assist in the sales process.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Experience
- Five (5) years external sales experience with Financial Institutions OR Eight (8) years' experience in external business development and sales experience required.
- Consulting experience preferred.

- Must possess strong cold-calling skills and have the ability to negotiate with and influence others
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in making decisions and interact effectively and positively with all levels of company and credit union personnel
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation computer software applications
- Ability to consistently demonstrate strong reasoning and analytical skills
Pay Equity
Velera is committed to pay equity and a competitive benefits package. The hiring amount for this position based on relevant experience and internal equity; the pay range is:
$68,600.00
to
$92,600.00
In addition this position is eligible for an incentive plan, based on performance.
